Chapter 8
“Oh, that’s good teaching Fish, says Rick. Let me add this to the mix. We as a people need to stop focusing on the enemy, and start focusing on the inner me. On why we hate on each other so much, and where we get that behavior.
The opposite of hate is love. We must first learn to love and embrace our own self before we can love and embrace others.
If any one of us would travel to Russia, Poland, Switzerland, or any predominately white country, and saw another black person in business, we would embrace them.
We would buy from them, and ask are there any more black businesses, because we would feel more relaxed seeing people that look like us. On what we can do to help each other grow, on ways to love and respect each other more.
Black people have learned how to hate each other from someplace. Where did we get that from? We know it stems from slavery from the house and field Negro, and it’s never ending.
Then you compound that with the Willie Lynch Syndrome of light skinned and dark skinned, and every other thing that can divide a people. Even today we still see those same mentalities.
We got generation after generation after generation, with the same mindset. It started from slavery where you’ve heard your mother, your father, your grandma, your grandpa, your uncle and aunt, and your cousins, all talk about the type of Negroes that they don’t like. They say I don’t like these kind of Negroes, or that kind of Negro; we have so much hate, and confusion between our race and there’s no reason for that…well , actually there is and it’s called white supremacy.
We have not learned how to embrace each other with love. We continually say we don’t like them Negroes over there because their Christians or Muslims, or us because we’re heathens. It’s always one thing, or another, which is all Willie Lynch type shit.
We got to learn how to love and respect each other. That’s the bottom line because once we learn how to do that we’ll be ahead of the game that’s the whole key. We don’t have to love each other, but we got to deal with each other, and if we do that, we’ll learn to love each other.
I cannot imagine any black person getting upset or angry at another black person for coming to their place of business and spending money with you, or you with them.
White folks and everybody else as a group get together, and they’re all in for each other. Not black people, we are doing all kinds of group mentalities, and that’s why it’s so important for us to subdivide initially, because we’re majorly confused. We’re all over the place, and can never grow as a group that way.
On how we can find ways we can communicate with each other better. On how we can better educate our children, and not just my child, so we can look down at those that are not making the grade and feel better about self and no one else.
